Sometimes I'll have words randomly capitalized while texting, such as "may" into "May" like the month. If you're bothered by unwanted or random capitalizations while typing on your iPhone or iPad, you can try turning off auto-capitalization in your device's keyboard settings, which can be found under General in the Settings app. While this is not the same as turning off auto-correct, having auto-capitalization off can stop words from being capitalized when you don't want them to be. Try this tip to cut down on your texting frustration!

This is great for when you're using a headset or you're making dinner, but also expecting an important phone call.  If you’re the type of person who’s always near their cellphone but sometimes takes too long to answer, or if you find the swiping-to-answer motion annoying or difficult to do, then you can enable this feature in your Accessibility Settings. Here's how to have your iPhone automatically answer incoming calls.

Have you noticed the Photos tab in the Photos app doesn't display all the photos you took at last night's party or from your morning walk? You can turn off Summarize Photos to view photos, as in ALL photos, in the Photos app. When Summarize Photos is on, the Photos tab chooses key photos to display. For example, if you took multiple photos of the same flower, Summarize Photos will have one or maybe two displayed when you browse the Photos tab. Here's how to turn off Summarize Photos so you can view all photos on your iPhone.

You’ve probably received thousands of pop-ups asking you to rate and review an app during your time with your iPhone and iPad, but how often have you actually rated and reviewed them? Pop-ups of any kind are super annoying, and if I really love (or strongly dislike) an app, I go out of my way to rate and review it. But the overwhelming majority of these requests are denied before my brain even acknowledges what the pop-up asked me to do. Luckily, with iOS 11 and later on iPhone, you can turn off in-app requests to rate and review apps fairly easily. Here’s how.

If you lose sight of your phone in a public place, like leaving it plugged into the wall of the coffee shop while you do some remote work, your data is susceptible to USB hacking tools such as keyloggers. USB Restricted Mode can help secure your data by preventing access to the Lightning port after your device has been locked for an hour.

Touch ID and Face ID are great iPhone security features, but if you want the best protection for your device, you need an iPhone passcode. Apple's default six-digit numeric passcode is already pretty hard to crack, but you can change your iPhone passcode to one that's even more secure. You can change the passcode on your iPhone to an alphanumeric code that's six digits or longer. That combination of letters, numbers, and length will bring your iPhone security to the next level. In addition to setting up Face ID or Touch ID, your passcode helps keep your iPhone safe from prying eyes. If you're looking for the best security code possible, an alphanumeric code is your best bet. Let's get started learning how to set a new passcode on your iPhone now.

We’ve all been there: we get swipe happy while checking our email and accidentally delete an email we needed to read. Shake to undo on the iPhone is helpful in this situation, but if you’re chronically deleting emails you needed to read, consider turning on a feature that asks you if you’re sure you want to delete an email before it’s deleted. You can turn this feature on in Settings on the iPhone; here’s how to avoid accidentally deleting mail starting with iOS 12 on your iPhone's Mail app.

When searching the web on your iPhone, you can use the search suggestions that appear below the search bar in Safari or Chrome instead of typing out your whole query. Usually when you tap a search suggestion, it immediately searches with those terms. With iOS 12.2 or later, when you tap the blue arrow next to a search suggestion, the phrase is added to the search bar and you'll be able to continue typing or tapping to add additional search suggestions

Do you swipe on emails to trash them only to see they've been archived instead of deleted? Here's how to delete emails on your iPhone, by changing the default swipe action from archive to delete. Below I'll show you how to change these settings for two different email apps. The Apple Mail app will need to have its settings changed from your iPhone's Settings app, while the Gmail app settings will be adjusted from within the Gmail app. If you use another third-party email app like Yahoo! and your emails are archived by default, try opening its settings within the app similar to the instructions below for Gmail. Another solution for inbox overwhelm is learning how to delete all emails on your iPhone, or mass delete emails.

If you have an iPhone 5s or later, and that iPhone has a Home button, or if you have an iPad that offers Touch ID, you can set it up to work as a passcode for your iPhone or iPad and App Store purchases and for apps like 1Password or Notes. If your iPhone or iPad doesn't have a Home button, you'll want to read our article on how to set up Face ID instead. If you're not sure if your device has Touch ID, see the full list of compatible devices at the end of this article. Using Touch ID is as simple as placing your finger on your Home button, which is where Touch ID resides. Touch ID recognizes your fingerprints, up to five of them. But first you'll need to set up Touch ID and allow it to be used across your device.

These days, hands-free iPhone operations are easier than ever. You can navigate in Maps, jam out to music, and look up information on Safari just by asking Siri to take over for you. And you can also use Siri to send hands-free texts, create reminders, make a list in Notes, and more. For most people, Siri commands will take care of all your dictation needs. But if you want to mostly dictate text instead of using a keyboard, you can also enable Dictation on your iOS device. In this article, we'll show you how to send texts and simple emails via Siri and how to enable Dictation if you want to leave your iPhone keyboard behind completely, and we'll share a few simple dictation commands to get you started.
