In the same way you organize widgets in the Today View, you can choose certain features of your iPhone to be quickly accessible from the Control Center. This also allows you to remove Control Center functions that you might never use and replace them with something better. Here’s how to customize the Control Center on your iPhone.

Control Center is great because it allows you to quickly do all kinds of useful things like turn Wi-Fi, Airplane Mode, and Do Not Disturb on or off, lock your screen orientation, control playback, adjust volume levels, open your phone's calculator, and use your iPhone as a flashlight. However, some people worry about privacy when Control Center is accessible from Lock Screen (although, rest assured, nothing private can be opened without unlocking your phone), and others get tired of accidentally opening Control Center in an app while playing a game. Which is why Apple made it possible to turn off access to Control Center from Lock screen and within apps. Here’s how to disable access to Control Center from Lock Screen.

You've probably heard of AirDrop before, but you may be wondering what AirDrop is, how it works, and of course, how to use it! AirDrop is a feature that allows you to wirelessly send and receive photos, videos, websites, locations, and more with nearby Apple devices running on iOS 7 or later. You can also share with Macs running on Yosemite or later if your iPhone runs on iOS 8 or later. For AirDrop to work, both WiFi and Bluetooth must be turned on, and you must be signed into your iCloud account. I love using Airdrop to easily transfer pictures from my iPhone to my Mac. Airdrop is also a great way to share photos with friends after you've attended an event together. Let's get started learning how to enable AirDrop on our iPhones, and how to use it.

Control Center in iOS 10 got a big upgrade that divides the single page into multiple tabs you can swipe through. And if you have Homekit devices paired with your iPhone, you'll be happy to use the new Home app, which allows you to easily organize and manage all of your HomeKit devices within a single app. Better yet, part of the redesigned Control Center is a tab that's dedicated to your HomeKit devices. When you open Control Center, simply swipe left twice and you'll be able to change the temperature in your home, turn the lights on, unlock a door, and whatever else the HomeKit devices you own can do. Here's how to access your Smart Home from Control Center with iOS 10.

3D Touch is here to stay. With iOS 10, 3D Touch can be found in a lot more places, performing more functions. This includes Control Center on iPhone. Control Center is accessed when you swipe up from the bottom of your screen. Along the bottom of Control Center are four icons that allow you to jump into using important features: flashlight, timer, calculator, and camera. With iOS 9, each icon performed a singular function. However the iOS 10 Control Center now uses 3D Touch to provide quick action options for making the flashlight more or less bright, setting the timer at a preset time, copying results from Calculator, and jumping directly into the Camera mode you need. Here's how to use 3D Touch in iOS 10 Control Center on iPhone.

Apple added lots of little shortcuts to 3D Touch when it debuted iOS 10. One such useful shortcut is setting the timer from Control Center using 3D Touch on iPhone. Doing so will give you preset options to choose from, allowing you to set the timer in a single step. You can also still tap on the timer to set a specific time not listed as an option. Here’s how to set the timer from Control Center on iPhone.

What is portrait orientation and what is portrait orientation lock? On iPhone, when you tilt your device on its side, the screen follows and rotates to landscape orientation. Turning on portrait orientation locks the screen so that no matter which way your iPhone is turned, the screen will stay in place. Instead of your iPhone screen flipping between portrait and landscape view, you can use portrait orientation lock. We’ll cover how to lock your iPhone screen and how to use a small workaround to lock rotation on iPad as well. And just in case your screen won't rotate, we'll also tell you how to unlock screen rotation on iPhone and iPad. Here’s how to lock your iPhone or iPad screen with portrait orientation.
