With iOS 9, your iPhone looks through the Mail app to let you know who might be calling when an unknown number comes in. This is true for outgoing calls as well; iOS 9 will try to match the number you’re calling with a contact from emails. If this is a function you’d like to turn off, here’s how.

Peek and Pop on iPhones with 3D Touch allows users to look into an email or web link without completely opening it. This lets you glance at what’s inside, making it easy to decide whether or not the particular email needs to be read now or can wait until later. 3D Touch is currently available on iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, 7, and 7 Plus (sorry owners of older iPhone models). You can use this tip to quickly find out what an email is about without opening it. This feature allows you to preview the email, delete it, mark it unread, view multiple other options, or open the email. Here’s how to quickly preview an email on an iPhone with 3D Touch.

In the iOS 9 Mail app, when you attach a photo to your email, you can also markup the photo. It’s easy to do, and perfect for sending photos between friends with small notes or funny markups, as well as photos with added text or your signature.

Finally, in iOS 9, there is an option to delete all of your mail via the Mail app. This only works with individual mailboxes, such as Yahoo, not the All Inboxes mailbox. If you're using Gmail, you'll need to select Delete All instead of Archive All in Gmail Settings. If you're worried about losing emails you want to keep, there's a setting you can enable to prevent accidentally deleting emails.

The Shake to Undo feature on your iPhone can be extremely useful if you accidentally delete an email or want to undo something you’ve typed. However, it can also be irritating and unnecessary if you find yourself constantly prompted to erase things you don't want to. No problem; disable the feature in your Settings.

An interesting new feature of iOS 9 is auto email event suggestions for your Calendar. The software scans your emails to see if there are any events you haven't added to your schedule. This can be very helpful, especially if a lot of your emails contain pertinent events. However, if you find yourself with a cluttered calendar, you can easily turn off the automatic addition.

Everyone hates getting email spam. Sometimes it can be more than just annoying. Sometimes spammers can collect information from your device when the email is opened. If the email contains an image, it usually is downloaded from a remote server. When you open the email, it can tell spammers that you’ve opened it and can even show your approximate location. Pretty scary huh?
