Tired of talking to Siri? With iOS 11, you can type to Siri instead. This is ideal for quiet settings or in very loud public places. By default, Siri will respond back with voice. But you can set it so that Siri will only respond with Voice Feedback if your iPhone isn't on silent. This is great because it means you can use Siri anytime. However, if you turn on Type to Siri, you won’t be able to use the Home button to activate Siri and speak. But you will still be able to say, “Hey, Siri” and speak. Here’s how to type to Siri in iOS 11 on iPhone.

If you have an iPhone 6s or later, you can turn on Siri by saying, “Hey, Siri” even when your iPhone isn’t plugged in. However, you also have the option to press and hold your Home button to activate Siri. With iOS 11 on iPhone, you can now turn press and hold to activate Siri off and reply solely on activating Siri with your voice by saying, “Hey, Siri.” If you often accidentally activate Siri when pressing your Home button, this is a great way to stop that from happening. Here’s how to turn off Press Home for Siri and instead only activate with Hey, Siri on iPhone.

Did you know Siri is keeping a record of your conversations? Don’t worry; Siri only keeps a page of your most recent conversations with the AI. Which can actually be incredibly helpful if you ask a question and need to look at the answer multiple times. You don’t have to keep asking Siri over and over again if you’ve asked once. Just use this hidden trick to view your recent Siri conversation history.

The Accessibility features on iPhone are useful for those who are visually impaired; but they can also be useful to others, such as those occasions when it might be more convenient to have your iPhone or iPad read to you. Unless you're visually impaired, you may not want to enable VoiceOver via the Accessibility panel because it then begins reading aloud everything, including the Settings screen that you're on. Instead, we’ll go over how to enable a feature that lets you turn VoiceOver on just when you need it. Here’s how to have Siri read text to you on iPhone.

If you think tipping is optional then you need to revisit your basic being-a-decent-human-being skills. And when in doubt, leave at least 20 percent. I’d love to tell you I can do the math in my head every single time, but why when Siri can do it for me. Oh technology, thank you. Here’s how to calculate your tip with Siri.

When you allow Siri to be accessed from your Lock screen, you may want to consider what Siri is capable of doing without unlocking your device. For example, let’s say you’re in a room with multiple other people. If one of them were to activate Siri when you have Voice Dial turned on, they could tell Siri to call someone without needing your passcode. But if you have Voice Dial turned off, Siri won’t make the call until you enter your iPhone’s passcode. This may or may not be important to you, but it’s good to know what can and cannot be accessed from Lock screen. Here’s how to turn Voice Dial off on iPhone.

You likely find it convenient to use Siri to set an alarm just by saying, "Set an alarm for tomorrow morning at 6 am." However, you can also instruct Siri to set an alarm for more than a single day, including setting the alarm for every day or for weekdays only, which is significantly faster than checking every day individually when manually setting an alarm in the clock app.

It's like the Interrupting Cow joke that delights school-age kids everywhere; you activate Siri and start speaking your request, only to be interrupted by, "Here's what I found on the web."
