Translating your speech from English to another language can come in handy if you're overseas shopping in a foreign country or chatting long distance with a non-English speaking colleague. To use Siri to translate, say something like "Hey, Siri, how do I ask where the bathroom is in French" and Siri will speak the translation for you. While Siri can’t translate other languages to American English, you can translate English to various other languages, including French, German, Spanish, Italian, and Mandarin Chinese. Here’s how to use Siri to translate English to other languages with the iPhone.

Instead of opening an app, you can use Hey Siri to check the weather forecast. With a simple "What's the weather today?" Siri will tell you what to expect for the current day's weather. Siri uses the Apple Weather app by default. You can also ask about the forecast for the coming week, ask for sunrise and sunset times, or any questions related to the weather.

These days, hands-free iPhone operations are easier than ever. You can navigate in Maps, jam out to music, and look up information on Safari just by asking Siri to take over for you. And you can also use Siri to send hands-free texts, create reminders, make a list in Notes, and more. For most people, Siri commands will take care of all your dictation needs. But if you want to mostly dictate text instead of using a keyboard, you can also enable Dictation on your iOS device. In this article, we'll show you how to send texts and simple emails via Siri and how to enable Dictation if you want to leave your iPhone keyboard behind completely, and we'll share a few simple dictation commands to get you started.

My iPhone has become something I always carry with me, along with my keys and wallet. I have a better chance of finding my iPhone in the dark than say, the bathroom doorknob on the first try. One of the most useful things my iPhone provides is the Flashlight feature. With the iOS 12 update, I can now turn the Flashlight on and off using "Hey Siri" voice commands. So if I'm stuck in the dark, "Hey Siri" lights the way.

Airline travel can be so draining, especially when flights don't stay on schedule; one thing that can help is to have all the information you need to track a flight right on hand. It's possible to get information about a flight with JetBlue, Spirit Airlines, Frontier, or any other airline by turning to Google or using an airline's app or a flight tracker app. But there's an even faster way that doesn't require opening an app. iPhone users can track flights using Search on their devices. Let's get started learning how to track a flight right from our iPhones; all you'll need will be the airline and flight number.

It's like the Interrupting Cow joke that delights school-age kids everywhere; you activate Siri and start speaking your request, only to be interrupted by, "Here's what I found on the web." At which point you probably say something like "If you'd just let me #$@%ing finish, Siri, you'd know I'm trying to call my wife, not do a web search!"  I can't help you with your anger issues, but I do have a very simple solution to your problems with Interrupting Siri. Here's how to get Siri to stop interrupting you and listen to your entire question.

Apple announced the Apple Business Chat platform at WWDC 2017 and iOS 11.3 has finally introduced us to the program. The Business Chat platform allows iPhone users to connect with companies through iMessages, or from the businesses' app or website, rather than talking on the phone. Apple is rolling out Business Chat slowly; it's only available as a beta version right now, with a limited number of partner companies. Let's stay ahead of the curve and learn how to use Business Chat on our iPhones.

You've probably had the experience of listening to the radio and wondering the name of the song that's playing—maybe it's new to you and you're wondering who the artist is, or maybe it's familiar but you can't remember the name. Now with iOS 8, Siri can help. In the past, you could ask Siri to identify music playing on your device, but with iOS 8 you can ask Siri to identify any ambient music. And, conveniently, Siri also makes it easy to purchase the song or album.

Being able to ask Siri to call a family member or dictate a text to a friend is one of the most useful offering the AI assistant brings to the iPhone. The one snag is that Siri's pronunciation isn't always the best when it comes to saying names correctly. Siri is great for calling or sending messages, but it’s incredibly frustrating when you tell Siri to call Jacqueline and the AI searches the web for violins. You're not stuck hearing Siri mispronounce names forever, though. Part of the personal assistant's capabilities is being able to learn, so you can train Siri to pronounce your name or any name correctly. Whether it’s your name or a friends, you can fix Siri’s pronunciation in a few short steps. Here’s how to get Siri to say your name correctly as well has how to correct Siri's pronunciation of any name in your contact list.

The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus and previous iPhones use the Home button to activate Siri, but that’s not an option with the iPhone X. While activating Siri may not be as intuitive on the iPhone X, it’s just as easy once you retrain your muscle memory. The Side button (formerly known as the Sleep/Wake button) on the iPhone X performs many functions, including activating Siri. Of course, Hey Siri is still an option on the iPhone X and it’s the same as before. But we’ll cover how to manually activate Siri on your iPhone X below.

Tired of talking to Siri? With iOS 11, you can type to Siri instead. This is ideal for quiet settings or in very loud public places. By default, Siri will respond back with voice. But you can set it so that Siri will only respond with Voice Feedback if your iPhone isn't on silent. This is great because it means you can use Siri anytime. However, if you turn on Type to Siri, you won’t be able to use the Home button to activate Siri and speak. But you will still be able to say, “Hey, Siri” and speak. Here’s how to type to Siri in iOS 11 on iPhone.
