It's always annoying when an app freezes or stops working properly on your Apple Watch. The solution? Force quit the app and reopen it. Happily, the process to force quit an app on the Apple Watch is short and sweet, so your app should be back up and running properly in no time.

I've been really enjoying the iOS Photos app lately, particularly the People Album. It's pretty amazing, and convenient, that the iOS Photos app can scan every face in every image, then identify people and sort the pictures into their own respective People albums. Sometimes though, the Photos app gets the identification wrong and puts a friend or family member's picture in the wrong People album. So what do you do when one of your photos has been misidentified and put in the wrong spot like this? Let's learn how to remove photos that have been put into the wrong People album.

I use my Calendar app to set reminders for meetings and appointments. These events are usually scheduled to begin when the minute hand is at a 0 or 5, so scrolling through each minute on Calendar can be annoying. Here's a quick tip for setting precise times on your Calendar app that will take less than a minute to learn!

For years I’ve heard about the app Procreate. But only recently was I able to download the app and try it with Apple Pencil on iPad for myself. I am certainly no visual artist, but I was immediately amazed by the capabilities and user-interface of Procreate. The app somehow manages to be both user-friendly and built for professionals. I expected a steep learning curve having used various other design software in the past. To my surprise, a couple YouTube videos and a few questions answered via Google were all I needed to feel like I had a grasp on how to use the app. Learn more on what it does and why we love it below.

Touch ID and Face ID are great iPhone security features, but if you want the best protection for your device, you need an iPhone passcode. Not too long ago, Apple changed from having a four-digit code as the default to an even-harder-to-crack, six-digit code as the default. Better yet, you can set an alphanumeric code that's six digits or longer as your iPhone passcode. If you're looking for the best security code possible, an alphanumeric code is your best bet. Let's get started learning how to set a new passcode on your iPhone now.

Without a Home button on the iPhone X, XR, and XS, how do you return to Home screen? I love the gesture Apple uses on these iPhones to go back to the Home screen, as it feels just as intuitive as clicking the Home button had become for me. Look for the thin long bar, that usually appears white, black, or gray, at the very bottom of your screen. This is a good visual cue. Here’s how to return to Home screen on iPhone X.

This is a favorite tip of mine for the iPhone. You can shoot video and take a still photo while you’re recording. There have been many times when I was shooting video and wanted to take a quick snapshot. Luckily, doing so on an iPhone is super easy. Here’s how to take a still photo while shooting video on your iPhone.

Closing your Activity rings on your Apple Watch creates a sense of accomplishment. Knowing you’ve met your weekly goal means you’ve taken care of yourself and your body, which is always a great feeling. But everyone has different goals. Meeting your goal means progress regardless of how it compares to the goals of others, which is why it’s so important to customize your Move goals for you. You might be a professional athlete who needs to work out for multiple hours each day when training or you may be recovering from an injury and need lower move goals that are huge gains for your progress. Regardless, it’s good to set goals that are just beyond what you think you can achieve; that way, you can surprise yourself. Here’s how to change your Move goal on your Apple Watch.

Online shopping is more popular than ever. Not only is it super easy to click and have a product show up on your doorstep, but also shipping prices and wait times are low enough to make you want to buy just about everything online. But once you’ve ordered something (or many somethings), you start receiving tracking numbers. And then to check the status of a package, you end up searching through emails trying to find your tracking number again. But what if there was an app that seamlessly synced across all of your devices, tracked your packages, and alerted you about arrivals? Ah yes, say hello to Deliveries: A Package Tracker ($4.99). Whether on iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch, you’ll always know the status of your packages. Here’s more on what Deliveries does and why we love it.

We’ve covered how to lock notes in the Notes app on iPhone. But what if you want to remove a lock? Perhaps you locked a note for a period of time but no longer need to keep it hidden. How do you get rid of the lock on that note? Luckily, it’s just as easy to remove a lock from a note as it was to add a lock. Here’s how to remove a lock from notes on the iPhone.

The most common way we all know to turn off or power down our iPhones is by using the buttons on the iPhone. But did you know that you can also power off your iPhone from within Settings? As long as your iPhone isn't frozen, you can shut it down without having to use the power or volume buttons (or Home button if you have one). Here’s how to shut down your iPhone without using buttons.

In a previous tip, we shared how you place an Emergency SOS call on the iPhone (though if you need a refresher, just hop into Settings, tap Emergency SOS, and it will tell you how near the top.) When an Emergency SOS call ends, your iPhone will automatically send a text message with your location to your Emergency contacts. This is a fantastic feature, but it’s only helpful if you have contacts set up as your Emergency Contacts. Here’s how to set an Emergency Contact for Emergency SOS on iPhone.

WatchOS 4 was probably the best Apple Watch software update we’d ever seen, especially for those who workout with their Apple Watch. In this update, not only did Apple add new workouts like HIIT, it also added the ability to quickly and easily swipe over to music from within the Workout app on Apple Watch. Now you don’t need to change apps and fumble around mid workout just to change the song. Here’s how to easily access music while working out with your Apple Watch.

With iOS 11, Apple added new Live Photos features, including the ability to turn your Live Photo into a long-exposure photo, mimicking the effect of a long-duration shutter speed in a traditional camera. Long exposure is most often used for pictures where the photographer wants to see motion blurs or light trails, or to better capture low-light scenes. Surely you’ve seen those beautiful photos with stars forming circles in the sky or a river with water that looks like smoke—those are photos that used long exposure photography. With previous iOS versions, iPhone users needed a long-exposure app to capture the long-exposure effect, but not any more! I’m no photographer; but this feature allows me to make any Live Photo look almost as good as a real long-exposure picture. Here’s how to use the Live Photo Long-Exposure Effect on the iPhone.

I hate running. This is something that has and always will be true. However, after deciding I need to take care of my physical and mental health, the one choice I kept circling back to was, "I need to start working out." My schedule doesn't always sync with my friends, so I typically go to the gym alone. And without anyone to spot me on weights or go with me to a class, the best solo workout for me is running around the indoor track. Zen Labs' C25K app guides users who are complete beginners with an eight-week course that can be used for running outdoors, indoors, or on a treadmill three times a week. In fact, the C25K stands for Couch To 5K, and the app aims to have its users reach a goal of being able to complete a 5K marathon at the end of the eight weeks. As someone who hates running, I really like using the C25K app. It's started a huge change for me. I've gone from just hating the thought of going on a run to hating it while I'm running.

I love that I can receive calls on my Apple Watch. If I’m out and about, my iPhone is in my backpack. But I never miss a call because my watch lets me know one is coming in. However talking to your wrist, especially in public, isn't ideal. No problem! Here's two different ways you can transfer a call from your Apple Watch to your iPhone.

No one likes getting lost in a parking lot. Apple Maps' parked car feature allows you to use Maps to find your car in a sea of vehicles. In order for this to work, your car will need either CarPlay or a Bluetooth stereo that your iPhone pairs with. Once you’ve set up the parked car feature, it will be ready for use without you needing to think about it every time you park. Here’s how to find your parked car using Apple Maps on iPhone.

It's important to update your iPhone's software, so why not make iOS updates automatic? Instead of getting notified to update the software, and understandably keep putting it off for later, you can enable your iPhone can do it by itself when the update becomes available. All you'll need to do is leave your iPhone locked and charging in Wi-Fi for the update to happen. And if you charge your iPhone overnight on a regular basis, you're already doing that. Here's how to enable automatic iOS updates on your iPhone.

There’s a lot or a little you can access from the Lock screen on your iPhone, depending on the settings you choose to enable. For easy access to features you often use, you can customize what is available from your Lock screen and turn on features such as Siri and Reply with Message. However, if you're concerned about privacy, there are some features you may want to turn off. Here’s how to customize iPhone Lock screen access.

Now that Apple has added Voice Memos to the iPad and Mac and made it possible sync them via iCloud, it's possible to access a voice memo on any of your Mac and iOS devices and to do things like record voice memos on your iPhone and edit them on your Mac. To do this, you will need to make sure that iCloud is enabled for Voice Memos on both your Mac and your iOS devices. And you will need to be signed in to iCloud with the same Apple ID on each of your devices. You can also follow these steps to disable iCloud sync for Voice Memos.

I love taking photos and my Instagram account shows it. The Layout app from Instagram helps me combine multiple photos into one collage. So if I have pictures from a party or a walk around the park, I can put several of them together into one frame. Layout makes it easy to customize, share, and save my creatively arranged photos.
